The present study was conducted in Parbhani district with a view to know the information about empowerment of women through self help group. The present study was conducted in Parbhani district which was based on random selection in Marathwada region of Maharashtra state during the year 2013-2014. Three talukas were purposively selected from the Parbhani district and from that four villages were purposively selected on the basis of maximum number of self-help group. From each village ten women respondents were selected by lottery method, thus, total sample size will be 120. The result revealed that 36.67 per cent women members of SHGs belonged to medium empowerment category. The percentage of women members of SHGs to high empowerment category were 18.33 per cent. About 15.83 per cent women members of SHGs belonged to low empowerment category while 15.00 per cent women members of SHGs belonged to very low empowerment category and 14.17 per cent women members of SHGs belonged to very high empowerment category. There was positive and significant relationship between empowerment and profile of women members of self-help group.Keywords

The present study was conducted in Marathwada region of Maharashtra state. The Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani was purposively selected for the study as one of the Agricultural University of Maharashtra State having integrated functioning of teaching, research and extension. 100 respondents selected from the various faculties of Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani on the basis of their involvement. Data collected through the questionnaire and data (result) were tabulated and analyzed to know the personal and professional profiles of the academic staff. It was observed that more than half respondents had medium age group (53%) ranging in 38 to 53 years, 55 per cent were educated upto Ph.D. degree level, 55 per cent were Assistant Professor, 58 per cent having medium service experience, 76 per cent of respondents were male, 66 per cent belonged to open category, 58 per cent belongs to rural background, 68 per cent were from medium income group, 76 per cent were in medium category of job satisfaction group, 39 per cent were of medium level achievement motivation. Suggestions were invited from the academic staff for improving the organizational climate, less than half (44.00%) of the respondent suggested that presently working staff position (Academic, research and extension) is very poor, it need urgently all positions are filled. Followed, less than one fourth of the respondents (21.00%) were suggested that encourage to academic staff by authority to participate in the international conference/symposium abroad.Keywords

The present study was carried out in Parbhani district. The three tahsils namely, Parbhani, Purna and Gangakhed were selected by lottery method from Parbhani district. From selected each tahsil 40 rural women were selected for the present study. Thus from three tahsils 120 respondents were selected purposively from twelve villages of Parbhani district of Maharashtra State. They were interviewed personally to collect the data with the help of structured interview schedule. The collected data were processed and statistically analyzed. It observed from result that majority (58.33%) of the respondents were found in medium decision making followed by 21.67 per cent in low decision making category, whereas only (20.00%) in high decision making category. There was positive and significant relationship between size of family, type of family, land holding and annual income, while social participation, economic motivation, risk orientation and sources of information was positive and highly significant with their level of participation in farm decision making. Further age was negatively significant relationship between age and decision making and their level of participation in farm decision making.Keywords

Parbhani, Jintur and Selu talukas of Parbhani district were purposively selected for study. 40 respondents were selected from each taluka on the basis of maximum area under green gram. The present study was conducted in Nanded district with a view to study the personal, socioeconomic and psychological characteristics and to know the mode of organization of training programme as preferred by the sweet orange growers. A majority of sweet orange growers were educated upto primary education, had medium (4.01 to 10.00 ha) land holding, medium annual income and also had medium risk preference, market orientation and economic motivation. Most of the respondents had medium 16 to 37 years of experience of farming, with medium social participation, and had medium use of sources of information and extension contact. Most of the sweet orange growers preferred training of one week period at their own villages particularly in summer season. So organizers of training pogrammes may give emphasis on these preferences while conducting training programmes.Keywords

The present investigation was carried out to assess the suitability of goal milk incorporation in preparation of Paneer on the basis of sensorial properties and to observe the effect of goat milk addition of nutritional and microbial quality of Paneer. Different proportions of goat milk (viz., 25, 50 and 75%) were used as replacement of buffalo milk and effect of different proportions on sensorial quality characteristics, chemical composition and microbial profile was evaluated. The Results showed that increasing proportion of goat milk incorporation reduced sensorial, nutritional and microbial quality of Paneer. However, results of overall acceptability showed that sample containing 25 per cent goat milk observed to be under very much liked sample among the other treatments without significantly affecting the sensory quality profile of Paneer.Keywords

The present investigation was conducted to analyze the sensory and microbial quality of plain Burfi, mango Burfi, fig Burfi and strawberry Burfi sold in Parbhani market. The sensory score for overall acceptability of Burfi of treatments T0, T1, T2 and T3were 8.53, 8.38, 7.39 and 7.59, respectively. The variation in the flavour score was observed due to the addition of different levels of sugar and types of fruit pulps in the Burfi. The colour of Burfi showed significant change due to the lack of maintaining proper concentration of synthetic colour added and difference in the intensity of heating at final stage of making Burfi . It was observed that all the samples were acceptable and rated in between liked moderately to like extremely. All market samples of Burfi showed presence of micro-organisms as well as presence of yeast and mould but coliform was absent in these samples.Keywords

The present study was conducted purposively in Latur district of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra state. From this district six tahsils were selected. Four villages from each taluka were selected purposively. The total villages for the study were 24. Ten respondents from each village were selected purposively for the study. Comprising 120 respondents of Deoni cattle and 120 respondents of non-descriptive cattle from Latur district were selected. Thus, there were a total of 240 respondents selected for the research study. Ex-post facto research design was adopted in this study. The data were collected with the help of pretested interview schedule. The statistical methods and tests such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, co-efficient of correlation, multiple regressions, Z test and path analysis were used for the analysis of data. It was found that more than three fourth (70.00 %) of deoni cattle rearers and two third (66.66 %) of non-descriptive cattle rearers had medium level of overall adoption of different cattle management practices for cattle rearing.Keywords

The present study was conducted in the jouridiction of VNMKV, Parbhani. Under this 6 constituent Agricultural colleges were selected namely: College of Agriculture, Parbhani, College of Agriculture, Latur, College of Agriculture, Osmanabad, College of Agriculture, Ambejogai, College of Agriculture, Badnapur,College of Agriculture, Golegaon. Under Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani there are seven faculties but for the purpose of present study only agriculture faculties were purposively selected. A questionnaire was supplied to all the staff members of the respective colleges, but some of the staff members not responded. Total 120 questionnaires supplied, but finally 100 questionnaires get back, thus 100 respondents were selected for study of constituent agricultural colleges under VNMKV, Parbhani. The majority of academic staff group were more than half (60.00%) of academic staff had medium age, more than three fourth (91.00%) of respondents were male, more than half (66.00%) of respondents were educated upto Ph.D. degree, more than two third (70.00%) of respondents were Class II, more than half (64.00%) of the respondents were form medium salary group, majority(80.00%) of respondents belonged to rural background, more than half (57.00%) of respondents had medium service experience. More than half (61.00%) of respondents had promotion opportunities, more than half (64.00%) of respondents were having medium level of training, more than half (59.00%) of the respondents of respondents were having medium level of work environment, more than two third (69.00%)of respondents do not have any aspiration and more than half (69.00%) of the respondents were having medium level of attitude towards job and more than half (69.00%) respondents were in medium level of job satisfaction.While cadre, work environment, attitude towards job were positively and significantly related to job satisfaction.Keywords

Four talukas were selected purposely from Parbhani district by considering highest area and production of the soybean crop namely, Purana, Palam, Parbhani and Gangakhed. Three villages from each taluka were selected randomly, thus 12 villages were selected for study. Ten respondents were selected randomly from each village who were cultivating soybean crop on his farm. Thus, the total 120 respondents were selected for the study. The soybean crop was selected for study because soybean crop is infested by number of weeds like shippi (Echinochloa crus-galli), kena (Commelina benghalensis), dudhi (Euphorbia spp.), hazardani (Phyllanthus niruri), nagarmotha (Cyperus rotondus), hariyali (Cynodon dactylon) etc. which cause loss to farmer up to 40 to 60 per cent in yield, weeds in soybean can be effectively controlled by using integrated weed management practices. Thus, the study was conducted for considering the problem of weed control in soybean crop. Ex-post facto research design was used for present study. The data were collected with the help of personal interview method with the help of interview schedule. A critical look of results, revealed that varying constraints faced by the farmers were economical constraints, technical constraints, resources constraints and other constraints.Keywords

It is revealed Table 1 that 69.17 per cent of the respondents were from medium farming experience, 45 per cent respondent were educated upto secondary (middle) school level, 35.83 per cent had small size land holding (upto 2 ha), 89.17 per cent of the respondents engaged in only agriculture, 78.34 per cent of the respondents were from medium income i.e. (Rs. 77103 to 409000) group, 50.84 per cent of the respondents had medium social participation, 62.50 per cent of the respondents used medium sources of information, 59.17 per cent of the respondents had medium extension contact, 59.17 per cent of the respondents had medium level of market orientation, 61.67 per cent, of the respondents had medium level of risk orientation and 62.50 per cent of the respondents had medium level of knowledge. Education, land holding, occupation, annual income, sources of information, extension contact and market orientation and risk orientation had significant relationship with adoption of integrated weed management practices.Keywords

In present investigation Burfi was prepared from buffalo milk with constant level of sugar (30 % by weight of Khoa) and different levels of walnut powder (2, 4, 6 and 8 % by weight of Khoa). It was observed that the overall acceptability score for treatment T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5 were 8.76, 8.45, 8.16, 7.80 and 7.50, respectively. The results revealed that as the level of walnut powder in Burfi increases the overall acceptability score decreases. On the basis of results it could be concluded that 2 per cent walnut powder could be successfully incorporated in Burfi which increases nutritional value without majorly affected the sensorial and textural quality profile of Burfi.Keywords

The present study was carried out to assess the textural quality profile of goat milk fortified Paneer. Paneer was prepared using buffalo milk with different proportions of goat milk (viz., 25, 50 and 75%) and prepared Paneer was subjected to the textural analysis on TA-XT texture analyzer. On the basis on resulting graph, various textural characteristics like hardness, cohesiveness, adhesiveness, springiness and chewiness were determined. The overall textural profile of Paneer showed that sample T1 was superior in terms of overall textural profile compared to that of T0 (control), T2 and T3 treatments. The incorporation of goat milk in the buffalo milk up to 25 per cent forms a good textural structure of the Paneer.Keywords

The study was conducted in purposively selected three talukas viz., Kandhar, Mukhed and Loha of Nanded District of Marathawada region of Maharashtra state during the year 2014-15. From each taluka, four villages selected purposively and from each village 10 respondents were selected randomly, there by constituting a total sample size of 120 respondents and the constraints faced by Kharif sorghum growers in adoption of recommended technology were studied. The result of the study depicted that high cost of chemical fertilizer, high cost of tractor charges for tillage, non-availability seed at proper time, high cost of FYM, non-availability of labour at the time of harvesting, high cost of pesticide or insecticide, inadequate knowledge about scientific plant protection, inadequate knowledge about the proper NPK does, while the major suggestions offered by them were crop loan should be provided on time, improved seed should be provided in time and sufficient in quantity, cost of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides should be reduced, supply of inputs should be provided in time, provide the information about seed treatment and short duration and draught resistant varieties be developed.Keywords

The present study was conducted with specific objectives to study technological gap in pigeonpea production technology. For this study Parbhani district was selected and from Parbhani district three talukas viz., Gangakhed, Jintur and Parbhani were selected. From these three talukas twelve village were selected randomly and ten respondents from each village were selected, i.e. 120 respondents from 12 villages constituted the sample for the study. Ex-Post Facto research design was used for the research study. The major constraints faced by respondents in technological gap in pigeonpea production technologies were high cost of FYM, high cost of chemical fertilizer, lack of knowledge about benefits of intercultural operation, non-availability of bio-fertilizer and fungicide for seed treatment in rural area. The majority of the respondents suggested that cost of seed should be reduced, training programme should be organized to improve the knowledge regarding land use, bio-fertilizer and detail package of practices, mechanical threshers should be made available to groups by providing 100 per cent subsidy.Keywords

The present study was conducted in three tahsil of Parbhani district. The sample of 120 respondents was studied. As regard the profile of respondents, it was observed that majority (67.50%) of the respondents were having middle level of age with an education as high school level (29.16%), the respondents were possessing medium size of land holding (38.35%). Further, it was observed that majority (76.67%) of the respondents were from medium annual income group. 51.76 per cent respondents were from middle social participation group. Further, 56.67 per cent of the respondents were having medium degree of extension contact. Most of the respondents were in the medium use of sources of information (65.00%) and economic motivation category (58.34%). Further 47.50 per cent of the respondents were having medium degree of risk orientation and 61.66 per cent of the respondents had medium level of knowledge. The 67.50 per cent of the respondents were found in medium technological gap group followed by 22.50 and 10.00 per cent respondents in high and low technological gap group, respectively. Correlation co-efficient analysis showed education, land holding, annual income, social participation, extension contact, sources of information, economic motivation, risk orientation and knowledge had negative and highly significant relationship with overall technological gap, whereas age of the respondents had positive and highly significant relationship with overall technological gap.Keywords

A sample of 138 rural youth (70 girls and 68 boys) were purposely selected from the four operational villages namely Pokharni, Daithana, Takali and Dharmapuri of Parbhani district. Prior to the initiation of the intervention, SES scale, awareness checklist on agriculture and attitude scale developed by AICRP-Human Development and Family Studies unit were administered on the sample rural youth. The agriculture base educational intervention was executed in all the villages for 3-4 hrs in a day, weekly twice for as period of six months by the investigators and arranging 8 to 10 special lectures of agriculture experts in it, in addition to conduct quiz competition on it, holding agriculture base books exhibition and distribution of free of cost folders/pamphlets developed by VNMKV, Scientist on various aspects of agriculture and by giving useful demonstrations on the agricultural practices. After the implementation of the agriculture base educational intervention the awareness about agriculture and attitudes towards agriculture of the rural youth were reassessed after a period of 6 months, for studying the effect of implemented agriculture base educational intervention on them. It can be concluded that by offering effective agriculture base educational intervention, rural youths awareness about agriculture can be enhanced and their attitude towards agriculture could be made positive.Keywords

The study was conducted in Parbhani and Purna Talukas of Parbhani district of Maharashtra state. Five villages from each Taluka were selected randomly thus total ten villages were selected. From each village, two SHGs were selected randomly thus total 20 SHGs were selected for the study. Six respondents from each Self Help Groups were selected randomly. Thus, 120 SHGs members were selected for study purpose. The result of the study showed that majority of women were young aged, literate, having medium size of family, belonged to nuclear family with exclusively agriculture as a occupation and were from medium annual income (from Rs.37,001 to 64,000) group, with medium social participation, majority of women were married and having small land holding and belonged from higher category of caste. The independent variables viz., education, annual income, occupation, knowledge had shown positive and significant relationship with the socio-economic change in women member of self-help groups. While age, size of family, type of family, marital status, land holding, social participation did not show any relation with socio-economic change in women member of self-help group.Keywords

The present investigation was conducted in Parbhani district of Marathwada region in Maharashtra state. The main objective of the study was to study the constraints faced by the beneficiaries in use of farm pond. The data were collected through personal interview with the help of interview schedule by contacting 80 beneficiaries. The result revealed that majority (75.00%) of the beneficiaries were having medium farming experience, followed by 26.25 per cent of the beneficiaries were educated upto secondary school level, while 50.00 per cent of the beneficiaries were having semi-medium land holding. Whereas 75.00 per cent of the beneficiaries were having medium area under irrigation, while 80.00 per cent of the beneficiaries were having medium family size. It was also found that 87.50 per cent of the beneficiaries were having low social participation, whereas 52.50 per cent of the beneficiaries were having medium level of extension contact, and 52.50 per cent of the beneficiaries were having medium level of economic motivation, followed by 63.75 per cent of the beneficiaries were having medium risk preferences. Major constraints faced by beneficiaries were higher labour wages, non - availability of credit in time, inadequacy of capital and lack of field demonstration. Beneficiaries faced problem of unavailability of labour or J.C.B., faced problem of more cost for J.C.B. than labour, faced problem of presence of agriculture assistant for taking photo, faced problem of lack of proper leadership, faced problem of lenthy time required for completing procedure, problem of unavailability of loan.Keywords

The present study was conducted in the Parbhani and Nanded district of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra state during the year 2016-2017. From these two district four tehsils i.e. (two tahsils from each district) were selected randomly. With irrespective of list of Grampanchayats and its members of each tehsil was collected from Block Development Officer (B.D.O.), Panchayat Samiti of respective talukas. In the first phase of data collection, 20 villages from each tehsil were selected randomly, thus making a sample of 80 villages i.e. (20×4=80). The selected villages were studied for their progressiveness with the help of village progressiveness scale of Singh et al. (1972). In the second phase, after arranging list of villages in descending order top five villages with highest scores were selected as progressive villages and lowest five villages with lowest scores were selected as less-progressive villages from four talukas. Thus 40 villages were purposively selected for research study. From each selected villages five Grampanchayat leaders were selected randomly for the study as respondents by positional approach method. Thus, total of 200 Village leaders i.e. 100 Grampanchayat leaders from 20 progressive villages and 100 Grampanchayat leaders from 20 less-progressive villages from Parbhani, Gangakhed, Nanded and Mudkhed tehsils were selected. It was found that, more than half (60.00%) of the leaders from progressive villages were having medium level of role performance, followed by equal percentage (20.00%) of them had high and low level of role performance. It was that most of the leaders were having medium level of role performance i.e. 45 to 104. It was further observed that, majority (65.00%) of the leaders from less progressive villages were having medium level of role performance followed by, 20.00 per cent of them had high level of role performance and remaining 15.00 per cent of them had low level of role performance.Keywords

The present study was conducted purposively in Aurangabad, Nanded, Beed and Jalna district of the Marathwada region of Maharashtra state during the year 2017-2018. From this four district eight tahsils were selected purposively . From each selected taluka two villages were selected purposively for the study. Fifteen beneficiaries of MGNREGA were selected randomly from each selected villages. Thus comprising total 240 beneficiaries were selected from Marathwada region for research study. It was found that, in participation of MGNREGA scheme major constraints relating to the financial constraints, situational constraints, technical constraints, administrative constraints and communication constraints were faced by the MGNREGA beneficiaries and MGNREGA beneficiaries suggested some important suggestions to overcome these constraints.Keywords
